Seems that time is standing still these days in my lil ol’ garden.
Also seems that I’ve said that before. Sorry.
This year isn’t quite the same as previous years and I can’t quite figure it out. I’ll blame it on the weather. Cold/hot/cold/hot.
For starters we’ve had a horrendous week of smoke filled sky from fires in Washington.
If we’re 200 miles away I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like being closer.
It smelled like smoke and the sunshine had a freaky reddish/orange tinge to it.
My flowers…given to me by my neighbor Queen of Birds…are doing quite nicely tho, thank you.
The cucumbers are starting to climb the trellis.
It’s been so hot that my cilantro has totally bolted. But hey, the flowers are pretty.
I planted bush beans in the empty space under the cucumber trellises…I hope they’ll have enough room and sun.
I experiment too much.
Don’t ever leave a chair unused that’s close to hop vines. This is what’ll happen.
I spy about 7 itty bitty green cherry tomatoes…only about a month late.
And I’m talking about 25 tomato plants too.
Oh, but the tomatillos are totally in their element and growing happily. I can’t wait to make salsa verde.
Anyone have a good recipe? Pinterest here I come.
My version of “three sisters” planting…without the corn for pole bean support.
Instead I used poles…duh. I’ve never-ever-ever had luck with corn here.
Looks like someone left her garden glove drying on the top of the teepee.
Up they grow…
My ugly potato experiment…but they’re growing just fine.
I think I can figure out what’ll happen…I’ll probably have perfect wonderful abundant potatoes. Yep…just to spite me.
Another view of the cucumbers.
Absolutely no sunflowers yet…but it looks promising.
Absolutely no strawberries yet either…I think I may be watering too much.
Basil in a homemade planter box in the greenhouse.
Chile peppers…but no chiles yet…
Onions are quite happy…I just might be having onion soup all winter long.
Starting to get the hop vines twisting and twirling over the garden gate. YAY!
You just wait another month…you’ll agree that they grow 6” a day.
Nice white sky, huh?
An elderberry bush busting out of the garden fence. I see flowers…but no berries.
And…I’m oh so happy to show you PROGRESS in the future greenhouse. Yes…more siding…more painting…
…and some strings of lights from Tarjay to festive it up as the evenings get darker earlier.
Can’t wait to get the polycarbonate panels on the roof…but we’re gonna wait until it gets cooler.
Ignore the sheets I used for drop cloths puhlease. I took pics before I straightened up.
Mr. Denim needs to start building some benches for inside…but he’s having a few days of fun in Seattle with our boys while I hold down the garden fort with Roman the Garden Dog.
He deserves it. Mr. Denim that is, not Roman.
How is your garden growing? Hope nicely!
Is patience a virtue? I’m running out of patience with mine. The lavender is pretty tho!
G-R-O-W you silly garden!!!
Ahhhh…but finally blue skies! Mr. Moose is smiling.
