HEY GARDENISTAS…IT’S OFFICIALLY SPRING!
Yes…I’m shouting…from the treetops. I’ve been waiting a long time for this day! Woohoo!
With Spring Fever hitting me, I’m dreaming of garden gates. What?!? Yes, I am.
IMHO, all gardens need a fun or whimsical or charming or {fill in the blank} entrance. One that makes you smile. One that makes you want to go in the garden. And weed. Hehe. Your garden needs to be a special place. Maybe not a Secret Garden, but still special to you. There’s just nothing more boring than a ho-hum entrance.
The minute I saw this photo on Pinterest I became obsessed with embellishing my gate. Arbor…vines…lights…action…perfect!
A few rock walls would make it charming. But I don’t have time for that.
This entrance is more southwest in style. Won’t work in Idaho but it’s sure darn cute!
Ahhhhh…the vine colors and slate pavers!
Love these rustic wood branches.
Gorgeous…but the deer would love the garden too.
Simple and stylish.
I hope vines will be growing on this arbor soon! Like the metal gate hinges.
I love color! Pretty!
So…now back to reality…I’ve been looking at this ho-hum garden gate for several years now…knowing that it needs something more to make it totally pop.
Can I make it stunning?
{Above is my feeble attempt at a future look}
All I need is an arbor for trailing hop vines. I have other hops along the south garden fence and they’re stunning in the summer.
I think I have a plan.
I’ll get Mr. Denim right on it. Like he has nothing else to do.
PS…all photos except mine…from Pinterest.
I love them all! Especially, the one with the rock wall.
Hey Gregg,
I’ll be happy to let you come over and build it for me! Hehe.
I like the one that you called “Love these rustic wood branches.” and the one below it “Gorgeous…but the deer would love the garden too.” and you are right they would! Not sure if you have moose but the moose would like it to easy access ;)I saw your blog about Mr. Bees your neighbor…could you forward my email on to him we are new to Idaho and I would love to talk with him about bees I have never kept but want to start now that I have the room 🙂
p.s. howdy neighbor 😉 I live in Spirit Lake, Idaho!
Hi NaPua,
I’ll see what I can do about the bee inquiry. And yes we have moose too. They’ve wandered around the garden fence before but seem to get spooked when they see us. And I always love to hear from a fellow Idahoan…thanks for commenting! Let me know how your garden is.
Hi,
I just found your blog and I have been enjoying reading your posts. I, too have been thinking about an entrance to my veggie garden and the rock one will work perfectly with my house! I have ‘borrowed’ the picture. If I could, I would attach a photo of the front of my house and you could see what I mean about how the rock entry would work so well for me.
Thank you!
