Hey hey hey Gardenistas…….wowsa……I’ve been away for too long.
I admit it.
But there’s just something about too much snow and 24 degrees that wreaks havoc with a brain that loves flip flops and shorts.
Yep, that’s me.
This has been one brutal winter here in North Idaho. But I think I’m getting my mojo back.
Thank you very much for the prod, Carol!

Who is this little cutie, you ask? Meet Roxie….our new German Shepherd garden dog 🙂

She’s been with us since mid-December.

Once smaller {but not for long} than Riley the Frenchie …and playful buddies…

… she’s almost 5 months old now…

…and so loves the snow and prancing about in the slumbering garden…

…as she pretends she’s Queen of the Snow Mounds.

She’d better not forget though that Riley has Garden Dog seniority.
She may be Queen, but Riley is the King.
Ha.
And that a perfect Gentle Giant…Roman…came before her.

He almost made it to 10 years, but just before Thanksgiving could no longer get up.
Tough decisions always come when you don’t want to make them.
RIP, Roman.
You will always be our first beloved Garden Dog.

We miss you.
We hope you’re enjoying your big garden in the sky 🙂
Good morning Holly…so happy to see you’re back on-line again. I’ve friends who have asked about your blog and where it went. This was a beautiful tribute to Roman….Mattie’s bacon eating buddy. Love the growth photos of Roxie. He is going to be big…not as big as Roman…but he’s already outsized Riley. Can’t wait until spring, when are dogs can come for a play-date.
Thanks, Robbie! Yes….as soon as we have grass again all the doggies need a playdate 🙂
Hi Holly
Edda, Robbie’s friend from San Diego, I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet Roman, the gentle giant. I’m sure he’ll be missed just like Robbie and Bill’s beloved Polly.
I’m looking forward to your blog!!
Hi Edda! Yes….of course I remember you :). When ya moving up here? I hope you still will in spite of our long winter this year 🙁 . Thanks for your comment about Roman. It’s inevitable…but still teary…when our furry friends have to leave us. But worth the angst as they give us so much unconditional love.
Oh so glad to see you back writing on the Dirt & Denim 😉 It has been a long winter for us North Idaho gals…Looks like more snow to come this week with Spring just around the corner….My patience has run out and I am demanding that little miss Spring better get her hiney in gear!!!
Right on, Jennifer 🙂 Hey it could be worse, right? Like living in Antarctica? Sheesh!!!!
