How about a little happy dance today, Gardenistas!

The days are officially getting longer now…well, um…by that I mean more daylight. Not in hours.

Let’s celebrate the winter solstice!

 In my neck of the woods up here at 48 degrees north latitude, the shortest day of the year has just 8 hours and 20 minutes of daylight.

I think I should move to Kona.

Do you know what it feels like to have the sun rise at 7:34 am?!?

Holy cowabunga.

It’s not pretty. Talk about a dearth of Vitamin D.

And no flip flops. {hello Kona}

So today is a day to celebrate the return of increasing daylight!

In slow increments…sorry.

Which to all of us gardenistas in the northern hemisphere means the coming of Spring and growing season!

Until then, I leave you with a few photos of our Christmas lights here in northern Idaho…

Do you see the lack of snow? My oh my it’s weird!

Usually we have a foot of the white stuff on the ground by now.

I’ll take it.  I’m not complaining.  But it looks boring, doesn’t it?
