When I walked around the garden this morning I noticed the very beginning of powdery mildew on a few leaves of my zucchini and crookneck squash.

It has been humid and hot here during the day. Add our cool nights to the mix and you’ve got perfect conditions for powdery mildew.

It looks like gray or white powder and can quickly spread to other plants.  On these leaves the mildew appears to be following the veins.

I’ve never used this copper fungicide but I just sprayed it on all the leaves {top and bottom} that are affected. The key  to killing the fungi is to create a more alkaline environment on the plant.  The directions say to re-apply weekly. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and I’ll let you know how it does.
