What’s a garden girl to do when Mother Nature isn’t cooperating this year at all?!?
The first week of March 2013…..as in 365 days ago…..looked like this…..{below}
And the first week of March 2014 looked like this {below}. Bummer!!!!!!!!
So when the garden seems at a standstill and my frustrations hit an all time high I go blog hopping. Not shopping. Hopping.
And since y’all asked, herewith are my TOP FIVE favorite daily {non-gardening} reads…..perhaps you’ll like ‘em too. They’re just plain FUN! And a reminder that there’s more to life than a garden. Sort of. In the winter at least.
I’ll post my top five favorite gardening blogs soon.
My absolute absolute absolute favorite…..it’s the one I read first thing in the morning before I look at anything else. Including the news. Especially the news. Witty humor and oh so fun ranch animals. What sweeties. Beautiful photography. Not to mention all that sunny blue sky in New Mexico. Ahhhhhhh. Bookmark it in your favorites FOR SURE. You’ll be smiling all day. Thank you Linda for sharing your totally interesting life.
What’s not to like about Pioneer Woman? Ree is another woman with some seriously dry humor and excellent photography…..if you haven’t heard of her you have either been living in a cave or have never been to the Costco book section. She has delicious recipes to boot. If only I had time to try them all. Does it count if I have all her cookbooks? ‘Cause I do.

This woman does it all. That’s right y’all. She must need only four hours of sleep. She gave up her medical practice to be a stay-at-home homeschooling mom. I like her colorful eclectic style of decorating. I like her writing. I like her recipes too. But I don’t have time for them either…..I just gawk at her food photos. And wish I could join her for dinner.

This gal is R.E.A.L. Her tagline reads In-your-face stuff from an opinionated rural north Idaho housewife. She’s in my Idaho territory! Yes ma’am! Nuff said.
Prepare to feel inadequate with her exceptional photography. Get used to her all lower case writing…..’cause what she says is worth reading. Totally. She’s been thru it all.
I don’t remember how I stumbled onto her site…..perhaps it had something to do with her painting just about everything she owns. Sounds like me. I’d paint my dog if I felt inclined.
Now go forth and read these uber-accomplished ladies’ blogs.
Any readers out there have any other favorites they care to share?
PS I didn’t forget Mavis’ blog! After all, she made the girls famous! Her mention soon in gardening blog favorites.
