I guess I should consider myself lucky.  Out of about 30 pounds of potatoes I harvested last week, these are the only ones with splits.

I’ve only been growing potatoes for three years and this has never happened.  Supposedly splits are from fluctuating growing conditions, such as soil moisture or air temperature.  Much like splits in tomatoes.  They are still edible but certainly aren’t very appetizing.

We’re having a hot and weird summer…….so I reckon I shouldn’t blame myself.  Maybe the girls {chickens} would like ’em? But then again maybe they’d be buzzed out with the high glycemic index.  Hmmmmm.
