Hello Gardenistas!
Let me say right off the bat that I’m so glad we have chickens…
they’re cute & silly little feathered friends.
{from whom we enjoy culinary delights for breakfast!}
And just a.little.dumb.

First item on the blog agenda…we FINALLY got a green egg…

after about 45 days!
Those Easter Eggers don’t like to put out in the winter.
Total divas if you ask me.

Yes…Roman & Riley watch my every move.
{Riley is on an extended Idaho vacation!}

OK…so back to the “dumbness” I mentioned…
for the last two nights six chickens have stayed out in their run past dark.
They’ve been perched high together on a pole.

Mr. Denim would have to call me to come out after dark to take each girl one by one back into the coop.
It was a new behavior that we’d never encountered before.
So I did some Google snooping and read about having a light on in the coop to “direct” them back home.

Doesn’t it look cute and cozy?
I would go there too!

Well…it worked!!!

The next night all ten girls were inside at dusk.

The light is on from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Enjoy your cute coop girls!
Night night sleep tight!
It reminds me of the radio commercial for Motel 6. “I’m Tom Bodett for Motel 6, and we’ll leave the light on for you.” Too cute and funny…but smart if it works. It worked for the motel chain and it now works for your little girls.
HA! That’s cute Robbie! I didn’t even think of that!
That is such a cozy looking chicken coop with the soft light beckoning to the resident chickens!
They’re totally spoiled! 🙂
